each cam will be different depending on lobe seperation i have a .533 .544 lift cam with stock pistons and had plenty of room , the best thing to do is get a cam that you know will be ok or get it and check piston to valve clearance yourself. :D

its not lift... its duration and timing events

you can run a 700 lift cam if the duration is right

the valve isnt fully opwn when the piston comes to tdc, its closing or opening.... this is why duration and timing events are important

Basically it's simple, I have a stock 94GT engine with 59k miles. I want to get the biggest cam possible without piston to valve cleareance problems. MAX Lift, MAX Duration. It's a 5speed and it'll have either 3.55s or 3.73s. The car is a daily driver but will be used for racing open track SCCA. I just want an excellent camshaft for my engine.

The valve usually doesn't interfere with the piston at max lift. The interference point is usually 20-30 degrees. Go with a custom cam and you won't have any worries, plus you'll get something that will match your needs
