Yeah don't build stuff like this if you dont know what your doing. Stock bottom end disaster in the making.

The summit heads are pretty much base model afr enforcers 8017 springs, 2.02/1.60.., the cam on stock bottom end and just slapping it together , and then the heads gaskets installed backwords.. This is why you don't take advise from ppl advertising to you seriously. Probably got all the parts for free too.

This episode is an absolute dumpster fire.

They put the head gasket on backwards. Forgot the oil pump driveshaft. Mix and matched the wrong distributor gear parts, plus probably got the gear height wrong which made it fail about instantly. Then the whole head bolt falling chunk into the block. Putting lube under the ARP washer, which has you overtorque the bolts.

These guys are entertaining. But thats about all this episode is. They don't really know what they're doing with a ford motor. Their choice of parts is basically "what can we get from our sponsors for cheap" rather than "which parts go best together".

Go look at the cam specs for the part number they said they used, 236/248 .587/587 110 +3.5 adv ground in. even on a cheap rebuilder engine using .020 in the hole budget pistons I would be checking that there video it looked like stock untouched ford fox body pistons ..... Either some funny editing going on or there just sloppy phoning stuff in to hawk merch and do giveaways. That cam if specs are any where close to listed is hurting that combo. That's pretty much the same as a blueprint 302 crate engine using those heads which are the same casting, just 11/32 valves.. they make roughly the same power on an engine dyno with way less cam, like 216/220 if I remember right.

Roller Mustangs 5.0's had billet cams stock, no need to mess with gears, just a stock melonized gear is fine, but gotta sell that over priced my spark died junk.

Nah that was a new part, then they bought a used one , you can wire a stock tfi with locked timing with just 3 wires if need be. Same deal with hei's or gut and convert a dura spark box with either module if you want keep vaccum or mechanical advance distributor, no real need for aftermarket ignition on basic combos like that until you need 1 that can do timing control.

Tfi or gm hei module. Doesnt matter both will do the same, basic 3 wires hook up firing the coil, that should be basic knowledge to anyone who messed with a simple carb combo, especially to someone like tony? This dude spent years getting paid to advertise for the performance industry on tv, now doing it on his own with youtube. At least they show the paid advertising label on videos like these now. That was a poorly made summit ad, dressed up as content.

I'm in my 40's, I wasn't working on these things that long

It's funny you picked that video as an example. lol

I looked at it and within seconds thought back to some of Tony's other projects and said, "Nope".

Now, I don't want to sound like I'm down on Tony. That dude can put away a cheesesteak. :jester:
