each cam will be different depending on lobe seperation i have a .533 .544 lift cam with stock pistons and had plenty of room , the best thing to do is get a cam that you know will be ok or get it and check piston to valve clearance yourself.
its not just the lift/duration, its the timing events as well. If your going with a custom cam you dont need to worry about it much, what cams do you have in mind?
Basically it's simple, I have a stock 94GT engine with 59k miles. I want to get the biggest cam possible without piston to valve cleareance problems. MAX Lift, MAX Duration. It's a 5speed and it'll have either 3.55s or 3.73s. The car is a daily driver but will be used for racing open track SCCA. I just want an excellent camshaft for my engine.
The valve usually doesn't interfere with the piston at max lift. The interference point is usually 20-30 degrees. Go with a custom cam and you won't have any worries, plus you'll get something that will match your needs
