I TALKED TO A GUT WHO HAS A SET OF 185 HEADS FOR SALE BUT HE SAID THAT I MIGHT HAVE TO NOTCH THEM TO FIT MY 302 DOES ANY BODY KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE

Valve Clearance:
Piston to valve clearance must be checked before assembly. AFR 185cc aluminum cylinder heads with 2.020 valves usually will not fit a piston without valve notches having proper reliefs. Also AFR 205cc heads with 2.080 valves might experience the same issues. hope this helps James

Yep, you will need to check this one. Often the radial of the valve will extend past the valve reliefs.

It really is going to depend on the camshaft.

Like stated above...it really depends on a lot of factors. This is one of those issues where you can't get a definitive answer without checking piston to valve clearance. I have a set of AFR185's and a F303 cam without problems, but someone else could run into problems with a similar setup do to differences in pistons, deck height, etc.

Thats why they made the 165 street head it has valve sizes that are compatible with stock 302 pistons. And I gather from your post yours are still stock?
