Jay Allen wanted to know what the spring pressures were on the AFR 185's that I have on order. I did order them with the spring package good to .600 lift. Anyone know what the spring pressures are on these springs?

I though the upgrade came in around 130# on the seat....just call AFR and confirm. He'll want to know the installed height as well.......

Ok, I gave him my info already, that was one thing I left out that I didn't know, but he would like to know that information, I'm hoping I don't have to change the springs...

Depending on what you want to do with the combo changing springs may be inexpensive and needed. You can get a decent set in the $160 range...

I end up putting springs on near every custom cam weather it is from Jay or Ed....

I suggested calling AFR since I thought their upgrade inlcuded a taller installed height due to a longer valve. I tend to use the stock height valves and add my own springs...

Just got off the phone with Jay, very knowledgeable guy.

Seems like I may have goofed up ordering the heads with the spring package as I may need to change the springs anyway according to Jay.

I guess I need to contact AFR and see if I can change my order, although it may be too late now.

Jay says the springs will work, however, they may not work in the upper rpm, and of coarse, AFR doesn't have exact spring pressures available.

Seems like there is a lot more to making power than most people think, when manufacturers say "Good to .600" that really doesn't mean much at all.

Oh well, lesson learned I guess.

Yes it is all about the pressures and installed heights when you get into custom cams with asymetrical lobe profiles....

It is a lesson most people learn the hard way
