My setup is down at the bottom.
I have the newest 351w block, I believe the casting is F47E or something. its a 94-96 roller 351..
Anyways, I am considering changing heads, Which would lower my compression ALOT (My heads are practically decked to nothing) And was thinking about then throwing twin t3s or a lightning supercharger at it.. Do you think the block could take it? How much HP/TQ should I expect with my mods, and lets say 9:1 compression with the new heads. Any ways, let me know what you guys think...
Anyone know if there is a adapter kit to use the lightning SC on a carbed application? If not that, any other useable SC's I can pull from something on the junkyard?? Not looking to get much boost.. Def under 10 psi
Thanks

There's a guy down in power adders threads building up a L s/c'd 5.0, you might head down there and check it out. He's fabbing adapters and such.

The boost doesn't hurt the 5.0's so I wouldn't assume it would hurt the 5.8's

you will be fine, specially with the 5.8, it's alot stronger then the 5oh block. don't sweat 10psi at all.

Send a pm to SmockDoiley - he can tell you all about supercharging/blowing through the carb.

I mean, I know I am capable of fabbing the induction to work, I have read alot about it, I am just curious if it will be too much HP for the block, or better yet for the stock rearend and t5 tranny

A supercharged 351 will definitely tax a stock T5; the rear end should hold up, but the axles may take a beating. Many switch up to 31 spline axles which requires changes to the diff. All of that depends on the amount of traction you have. If you don't have enough traction - the tires become the fuse that allow other parts to live. That's the situation I'm in.

yep... I imagine the only reason my Superduty T-5 still breaths is due to the Cooper Cobras on my 8 in. wide wheels. A set of 555Rs should be good to twist it all up.

Daggar - LOL; as I frequently tell people - I've been waiting 50 years to be able to smoke the tires. Why would I want to screw that up with traction?

so around what psi would be safe, and approximately what hp.tq would I be making?

LOL@ Mike

Salty - with your 11:1 compression, I'd start small. 5 - 6 lbs of boost and work you way up from there.

ok, so basically the cheapest vortech kit would work fine for me then, since its 5-8 psi only right? It cant be too hard to hook it up to a carb though, I assume everything bolts just teh same, I just might have to make a custom mandrel bent pipe for the SC to the carb hat right?
There isnt anything with fuel I dont think, Maybe perhaps adding another injector or something...

Like I said before - send a pm to SmockDoiley - he knows his stuff about blowthrough systems. I believe there are carb changes that need to be made.

But you already know I think you have bigger issues. From previous threads and the one on the bent valve -- I question the integrity of the heads you have, and reducing the compression ratio with a thicker gasket is likely to make your engine detonation prone. Detonation + boost = boom. Good luck with it - I suspect you're gonna need it.
