Finally off the jack stands, typical gt40, explorer intake, tfs1 cam. Now I have to fix some exhaust leaks between headers and h pipe.. Pretty sure my wideband is reading way lean because of the leaks. Have a check engine light but have not checked codes yet.

Try loosening them up putting a gasket in between the flanges and then tightening them up equally on both sides. Are the flanges bent from tightening?

It's only an inch or two. What's the big deal?

What kind of headers do we have? Flange style?

The headers were fine when taken off my car. I am using a different h pipe than before I took it apart. It is a used 2 piece h pipe, though in good shape I guess it could need adjusted. When you say gasket do you mean one of the donut gaskets?

I had a situation with a ball and cone setup on a truck where I installed cheapo headers and an equally cheapo y-pipe where the cone flanges on the y-pipe were a little too small. This resulted in severely bending the cone flanges on the headers when I torqued them down. I didn't realize it until I got fed up with trying to get them to seal and bought some nice stuff and installed it instead.

That's not to say that BBK headers are cheapo, but I would remove the h-pipe completely and ensure that the flanges aren't damaged in any way. Ball and cone flanges are pretty fool and leak proof when they're undamaged. If everything looks good, some copper RTV couldn't hurt.

If it is used and a different H pipe, it could be all bent up. That changes things. Who knows what the prior owner did to make it fit on their car. You may need to use some persuasion with a torch to heat up the pipe and bend it to fit or use donut gaskets.

Did you tighten up the H pipe where it meetes the header collectors evenly on each side or tighten them one at a time?

It does not look to be modified at all, I used a 2 piece summit h pipe before without any issues. I tightened them up as evenly as possible. When the headers were off the car I had to weld 2 new bolts on the one header in the exact same spot, so that shouldn't be an issue. I do have another set of headers that I could swap out I guess
