Sounds similar to what happened to me. Although, with the POS 86 brakes, they won't lock up if you're going over 2MPH.
The 87-93 brakes do have the 11" front disks. But, you have the MASSIVELY F****** UPed front brake set up where one front brake line comes from the MC and the other from the prop valve. As long as you keep that F***** UPed setup, you're SCREWED - PERIOD!
What you want/need is the 94+ Brakes (preferable Cobra) and ABS. That's what I did 7+ years ago. The BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT!!
I NOW have world class brakes. And I do mean world class brakes that compares favorably to ANY car/truck/SUV out there. Yea, their are now better brakes, but from 70-0, the 94/95 Cobra brake setup with ABS on a FOX is as good as *anything* that can be put on a FOX. At those speeds, the tires, body flex, shocks, and so on are the limiting factors, NOT the 94/95 Cobra brakes.
For speeds over 70MPH, the 99+ Cobra brakes or the race brakes do help a little more. It all depends on the speeds you're talking about, and again, the tires, body flex, shocks, etc.
Last, to upgrade to the 94/95 M2300K brake kit, ABS, rims, tires, spare, etc, your realistic price is over $5K. Going with a salvage yard 94-98 Spindles, 99+ GT front brakes, used rims, and ABS, is much cheaper and you still get very good brakes. But, it's a lot more work getting and hunting for parts.
