aftermarket alternator bracket for 94-95?

I would like to drop the bracket and go with something similar to what March performance sells. I no longer have the smog pump either. Anyone know of a suitable bracket or will I have to make one? From what I understand the bolt holes on the water pump are not the same on 86-93 and will not allow the bracket to bolt up.

Good question. I was thinking I was going to cut and grind mine to make it look a little less beefy then polish it up a little bit.

Free bump for ya...I couldnt find anyone that made one either so I made mine...Drivers side mount.

Do you have a pic? I am curious as to what it looks like. Did you retain your a/c? Since I posted that thread last night I was doing some research and found one person had tried the alternator bracket. Apparently with 94-95 accessories being moved inwards an inch or so, the alternator hits the valve cover or head. To move inward you need to move alt outward to gain room. By doing this you loose the line up of your belt. I would like to see if anyone can verify this.

I too would love to find a way of doing this. I'm in the same boat... I have this HUGE bracket that does nothing more than hold my alternator in place.

I'll take a pic tonight but I'll have to email it to someone...dont know how to post pics. But anyways, No I dont have ac. I will describe this as best I can without a pic. I have the standard crank pulley and waterpump. The alternator is drivers side mount. The alternator has two ears (I know you all know this but for clarification) that the bolts go through. One is thin and the other like 3-4 inches thick. The thin one has a 1/2-3/4 spacer behind it and is bolted up using one ot the waterpump bolts on the frnt cover(had to buy a longer bolt. My bracket then bolts from the other ear, follows the contour of the alternator then bolts to the (I believe grounding stud) in the front cover (right next to the oil press sensor.

Now on the drivers side I made a triangular box/bracket thing to hold the tensioner. This needs to be redisgned dut to the fact I cannot simply release tension and remove the belt...I have to take the alternator off to do that.

I also have a vacuum pump on the pass side similar to the setup of the alternator, just lower. None of the accesories/brackets extend above the heads. I will take some pics tongiht if someone wants me to email em they can Post them. Oh, BTW my car is carbed so I dont have p/s either...bare bones setup.

zack posted some pics of a bracket he found, not sure what car he got it from but it moves PS pump down and alt over to where PS is stock

the guys at march told me i could just change the timing cover over to a fox style to be able to use there brackets on our cars.i never researched what else needs to been done to be able to do that but thats what they said.i would like to see a pic of zacks set up though that sounds sweet so if someone could post it or tell me what thread its in that would be great.peace

From what I have read, if you go to a fox cover and pump you and up being too close to the electronic fan. I dont know if this is accurate though.

I heard that too. In addition just about every aftermarket rad. is thicker than the stocker making for even less clearance.

I removed my a/c and smog pump. Then just cut the brackets down on a bandsaw. Smoothed them up with a die grinder and painted them. Just make sure to leave enough meat around all the bolt holes. Really cleans the engine bay up

I've tried two kits so far...Wysco (same as March) and a Moroso kit. The Moroso I think I can get to work but I have a Roush kit coming in a few weeks that I am going to try. If that doesn't work then I will fab something but I'm horrible with fab stuff.

I have NO accessory pullies other than an alternator and crank. I thought I had the Moroso kit working but I couldn't get the alternator far enough back to line up with the stock pulley b/c the alt would hit the cylinder head (passenger side). So I picked up an ASP 3in race pulley (needed one anyways) for a foxbody which pushes everything out a bit. Now my alt bolt is not long enough.

The Moroso and Wysco kits bolt to the water pump and the holes do not line up with my 94/95 Meziere pump. The Roush kit I have on order LOOKS like it bolts to the cylinder head which would be great so I will know when it comes in.

If you swap to a foxbody timing cover and water pump it will probably work and you should have enough room wtih the fan. But if your running any other accesories like PS then I'm not sure what all you would need to do.

I know of one kit that will work for sure with a foxbody crank pulley...but it is expensive. In the Vortech Driver's Side Renegade YSi Vortech kits...they use a cylinder head mount alternator bracket with curved arm. I was going to just use this set-up but Vortech wants like $250 for it...so screw that. I have $90 in the Moroso kit and Wysco kit combined. The Roush kit is like $65, and hopefully it will work.

I will report how the Roush kit works when I get it.

If you just take the stock alternator/smog bracket and cut it down and paint it, it does look a LOT better. Easy to do with an angle grinder and a dremel, and onlys costs you a bit of paint.

In his situation probably would work. In mine it won't b/c I still need the tensioner to work somehow...?

I was just looking at March's website and looking at their setups they actually do have a kit that uses a shortneck waterpump setup like ours

Marchperfomance street rod kit ford 302

the only thing is that it sets the alternator and A/C are narrow and high up in the front, but I can't help to think that something could be adjusted to make it fit.

This is rather interesting. However I think the setup does sit quite high. I know the hood wouldnt clear this.
