I have a 2009 GT/CS Vert, 4.6. I'm going give her a complete, custom paint job and part of that process is to replace the stock (fake) scoop hood with a heat extractor hood. The 2 choices available are either carbon fiber or fiberglass. I have been told that the carbon fiber will require hood pins to secure it, and I'm not thrilled with hood pins on a 2009. I've also been told that fiberglass can frequently have "fit" problems and they should also be used with hood pins. My third option is to use my stock hood and remove the scoop...but that's not really what I want to do. I will be adding a supercharger next year (probably a roush), and I want to be sure the heat extractor hood will not interfere with the supercharger. So... what are your opinions of the carbon fiber vs. fiberglass hoods? What hood vendors have you had a good experience with in regards to quality? Thanks for your help.
