I bought a used 2006 GT 'Vert recently. While having some work done my mechanic noticed that the previous owner had replaced the OEM coil packs wi HI Performance COPs from Accel. He told me that the aftermarket HP coils could ruin the ECU and cause expensive repairs. Has anyone else ever heard this? I could not find anything online to confirm it.

The thing that stresses the ECM(PCM) is gapping too widely.

Okay... let's pretend I'm dumb for just a minute. Exactly what gap are we talking about?

Spark plugs have too wide a gap.

I have Accel coils on my 4.0 V-6. And JBA spiral wound wires. Stock plugs gapped stock. Runs great. I've never heard of after market coils causing issues.

Yeah, me either. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Thanks!
