Aftermarket seats

I have a 68 mustang with the standard midback seats. I wanted to get an after market seat that actually goes up to your head and has head rests. I also want them to be able to recline and fit the bolt pattern already in my floor. Is there a place I can get them for as little money as possible? Or can anyone suggest a donor car that is compatable that has the type of seats Im looking for? My brother has a 69 with the seats I want, but I am pretty sure He will notice if I swapped them out. LOL

They make alot of aftermarket seats. I saw a nice set of Corbeau seats or however you spell it for sale at $350 a seat. I myself will be doing like some others and use a seat from a modern mustang or some car with highback and fabricate my own brackets. Not too hard...and cheaper if you find seats for the right price. Procar seats are nice but expensive...choice is yours good luck...

I recently installed the procar elites in my 68. Bought them from summit for $240 each & $99 for 2 brackets. Bolts right in. The shipping was $5/seat. Couldn't beat that. Esp since they arrived in 1 day. This was the first mod I did to the stang when i purchased it a few months ago. People compliment me on the seats all the time & they are alot more comfortable than the stock. They seem to blend in real well with the interior. I think the rally seats are only $25 a seat & they have side boosters. Those seats were too tight for my frame. It's already hard to get in & out in such a small car & tight seats wouldn't help. I think summit charges more for shipping out the rally seats though. Not sure why it was only $5/seat with the Elites.

Got a set of seats from an early 80's Toyota Supra for $30 at a Pick-a-Part place. Had them upholstered to match my car....

I really need to take pics of this stuff.

Can y'all post pics? I'd like some seats that don't kill my back--2 bad disks (don't ask)--but some that I can swap back when I show it at MCA shows.

I say just get a set of seats from a new stang. If you look on Corral and local boards you can probably find a nice set of leather seats for $400 or so. The great advantage about this is the fact that its easy to install. The width is the same and all you need to do is drill 2 rear holes in your stock tracks to accomidate the seats. Quick easy and cheap

I got my old seats at a junk yard out of a Pontiac Fiero and had them reupholstered to match my interior.

Those Fiero seats look pretty nice.

I fell in love with the seats in Mom's Cherokee and was all excited about going to the junkyard to find some for Sadie. Then a few days ago realized that they don't fold forward so I wouldn't be able to get to the back seat at all.

I'd also like to see some pics of newer mustang seats in classics.

chelle the 2 door cherokees have the floding seats and are a direct swap for the 4 door seats. i currently have 4 door seats in my 2 door chero, long story but to make it shorter let's just say that the PO was a "wide load" and my seats were flat and angled out towards the door

Chelle--I agree. Anyone got any of the fox bodied seats or newer in the older mustangs?

I do like those Fiero seats, though. My concern would be getting a set and realizing that they don't fit and/or work. (ie. Chelle's non folding seats!)

nope, just the seat back. i think it was only full size chevy blazers that the whole seat tilted forward on, i could be wrong about that, but on the 2 door chero seats it is definately the seat back only that flips forward

Check out this thread. Dodgestang has some black leather bullitts from a late model in his fastback. They look really good!
