I'm putting a 302 roller motor in my 67. I'm trying to transplant as many parts from my 289 that was originally in the car, thus I'm running a V belt setup. The 289 had factory A/C but I'm leaving it out on this conversion. This is what it looks like right now

I have a single groove water pump pulley, and a 3 groove crank pulley. So can I run this setup: apologies for crappy paint edits:

or do I need to use a 2 groove water pump pulley and run this setup:

Thanks for the help!

First option. Alternator/water pump/crank then ps/crank

Make sure your water pump is the correct rotation though!

Ah ok, that makes it easier. However, I got a couple of belts at Oreilly's. One was I think 41 and 7/8" and the other was like 47 and 7/8". The first one was too small for the option 1 and the 2nd one was too big for option 1. I think those were the only two power steering belts at Oreillys. Do they have any other sizes?

Also, I have the 289 timing cover and matching water pump so I believe the rotation is correct.

the rotation will be correct with that set up then.

just take the belts back and ask them for how every many inches smaller/bigger you need and they should have what you need

Ok off topic, when you installed the pulley off your old alt to the 3G alt was it a direct swap?

Yep, didn't have a problem. Are you looking to do the same? If so, the best 3G info I've found is here:

FullSizeBronco.com - 78 - 96 Ford Bronco offroad club, forums, tech, installs

There are alot of variatons of the 3G so there might be some deviations with the pulley. What exactly is the problem?

Here's some additional information

On the topic of the belts, I think I'm going to go with option 2 because it will take side stress off the shaft of the WP. About the pulleys, I have that single groove but I also have a 2 groove off of a Merkur XR4Ti (Ford 2.3L), and it is the same diameter as the single groove, has the same bolt pattern, and with spacers, aligns nicely with the crank pulley. Would this be an ok setup or would it be best to go with the crank and water pump pulleys that came on non-AC, PS cars?

Yes I am getting ready to do the 3G upgrade, using the ALT out of a 94-95 V8 mustang. Going to get the pulley swapped off my old alternator, just wanted to make sure I didn't need any sort of spacer under it. Thanks for the link on all the 3G info.
