Ahh Crap! Now I have to re-learn to drive...

4.10's installed :nice:
Very nice :nice:
Car stays in the powerband :nice:
Huge difference in the way this car drives :nice:
Have to re-learn how to launch it now so I can get a quick ET :notnice:
I must say though, once I get a little practice, my launches should be flawless.

hows the traction? and what other mods do you have. The reason i ask is that i cant deside between 3.73s or 4.10s. Its my dayley driver and its common to get a bit of snow here on Long Island, so im worried that 4.10s will be overkill for my stang

Just a thought 3:73 4:10? these cars werent designed for snow. Just kidding, I just put my 4:10's in and love them. and I just filled up the other day, and I am still on a little less than 3/4 of a tank, and 80 miles. normal driving for someone who put on a offroad pipe last week. :D :D

how's the drivability in 1st in 2nd? (not drag racing, just rolling around town). Is it more of a hassle than the stock 3.27s? Do you start from 2nd usually on flat roads?

I know Ive seen about 12 posts on 4.10/3.73's but I heard 4.10's are like stock but 1 gear lower, 2nd in stock is like 3rd in 4.10, 3rd in stock is like 4th ect. My question is it seems like 1st gear would almost be unuseable in 4.10

As it is 1st gear in stock is extremely short. Sounds like 4.10 in first gear would be like so short its almost not worth having.. Thats something I'd like to see a lil info on. People who have 4.10's in there daily driver. What is first gear like? Do you start out in 2nd most the time from lights ect? When you do launch whats the gear shift like 1st 0-15 mph? 2nd 15-30? Sounds real tight. btw I am no "racing" expert by anymeans. Just curious and havent seen this specific set of questions answered

Okay, I hope no one got the impression that I am unhappy with my decision for 4.10's.
I have NO regrets going with this gear at ALL. :hail2:
Wait, I have two:
#1: Should have done this change before I took my car home when I bought it.
#2: Should have had someone else besides the dealer do the install. :nonono:
Anyways, I drive 50 miles a day back and forth to work, I don't see any problems so far with them so far. I have only had them for 24 hours and I love 'em.
As far as around town driving, yes, you shift from first to second pretty quickly, but, no, it is not that much of an inconvenience. Wheel spin is NOT a problem. I really have no idea why everyone is so scared of this gear. It is nothing to be afraid of. In fact, I bet if you type in "4.10" in the search field you will find NO ONE with the post or statement "I am taking out my 4.10's"
5 spd cars should have come stock with this gear or in the very least, had it as an option.
Gas mileage shouldn't change much once I get rid of the "Happy With The New Gear Right Foot Bug"
Mileage around town should improve since I get to 5th gear alot quicker.
For those living where there is snow, don't fret, these gears are for you. It is your right foot that causes poor traction, not your car. :D

So, in summary, I am truly convinced with the phrase:
D.F.T.G.= DONT FEAR THE GEAR :nice:
Make the change and move on to the next mod. You wont regret it
