Hey peeps, what's going on here? The car hasn't been up for a winter yet so I know it's not from the weather and there isn't any salt laid down here so anyone know what's going on here. I just walked out of a store thought it had tar on it but it was the actual rim. The previous owner, which I know, bought the rims from tire rack and they're BBS RK rims. Supposed they're polished but as anyone can tell they're definately not. Anyone know why this happened? It's the only rim that's doing this. I could go for this new look though, black on black so if anyone knows how I can get the rest of the chrome cover stuff off all the rims please let me know. Thanks.

excuse the dirtiness, it was raining at the time.

i would say bad chrome job. a interesting tid bit for you. Fire hawk cars have chrome rims from the aftermarket builder. in a few years like 2000 all the factory rims did the same thing. they said bad chroming process was the cause and or extreme heat off the brakes cause rims to peel.

the rims are kind of black chrome. There called Plasma according the BBS. If I could get all of this chrome off would I need to powdercoat black or would be good as is?

i have the same rims as you. i have had them for 2 yrs. now. car is garaged though. they are a plasma finish it is supposed to be different then chrome.

anyway, i had no idea they were blace under there, but i have said on here a couple of times that when my rims get scratched up ar chip im powdercoating black. i think it would awsome on the design of the rims.

we might not even have to powdercaot them after all. definitly get the rest off and go black

Yea, the Panoz Esperante uses a lot of Cobra parts... The suspension is a spot on match for the 1999 Cobra.

They even use th 1999 Cobra guage cluster...

The 32V Romeo engine is the best part.

ALL PLASMAS DO THIS. That is why they were discontinued! I guarantee they are out of the 2 year finish warranty too!

My silver RK's will stay silver for years to come!

All RK's come with a set of Panoz centercaps as well as BBS caps.

Does anyone have any idea on how to get this top chrome coating off without messing up the black under it? I've tried a heatgun and that didn't work.
