I have a 302 with a Holley 4160 carb in my '70 convertible. I've been running a round filter from a local parts store that's about 10 inches in diameter with a simple chrome top. It works fine, but the replacement filters are a little expensive and not as readily available as I'd like. Also, such a small filter is bound to be more restrictive than the larger sizes.

What filters are you guys running? I'd prefer not to run a K&N. I'd like to run a larger paper filter that looks good and isn't too expensive. What do you recommend?

Mr.Gasket sells a 14" round that's a damn near twin to the old 289 Hi-po cleaner. Most Advance, and Autozones stock it. I have one on the 5.0 in my Ranger with a K&N element. Part number is 1480.

Fram has a $20 rebate on their Air Hog filters. You can get up to two rebates per household and the deal lasts through the end of the year. Just measure up what you need and go to the Fram website to get the part number. Then go to Amazon.com and buy two to get it with free shipping.

I bought one for my 97 F-150 and one for my 69 Mustang. And they come out to between free and a couple of bucks after rebate.

Yeah, they'll send you a check in the mail. Could take anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks depending on the company processing their rebates. I buy things on rebate all the time and I'd say I get the check 19 out of 20 times if not better.
