My AC went out sometime last summer on my 00 GT and its starting to drive me mad. Ive dealt with it for the most part, but just want to try to fix it myself before I take it somewhere.

Ive bought the AC recharge and tried it last year to no avail (still blows out hot air). What other things might have caused this? What else could I look for?

Thanks,
Chris

pressure switch or whatever its called. To test it you can jump it with a paperclip or piece of wire, this will cause the compressor to kick on and if you get cold air then u know its just that switch

First of all, does the compressor cycle on and off when you select/de-select the A/C on the dash? If not. look into the pressure switch as mentioned. It is located near the firewall on the passenger side. Has two wires on the plug. Unplug and jumper it in the plug. If compressor cycles on in the A/C position, replace switch. Do not run to long when using the jumper wire. Could also be a bad clutch on the compresor if te above test does not work.

as mentioned in the posts above, check for compressor engagement. if it ain't kickin' on it won't be blowing cold

if it is working or acting erratically, take it to a reputable shop or the dealer and have them recharge the system. those autozone/walmart a/c recharge kits are garbage. they'll also pull a vacuum to check for leaks, something you won't be able to do yourself
