Air conditioning Problems

Here's the deal guys....

AC compressor is not kicking on and the car is blowing hot air.

What I've checked so far.

Low pressure safety switch has no voltage to either pin when AC is off, when AC is switched on inside car, one pin shows 12v. I have run a jumper wire between the two pins, and that does not kick on the compressor. Safety switch was replaces less than one year ago.

High pressure safety sensor ( I dont know what to check )

Electric radiator fan is not coming on low or high when the AC is turned on. Electric radiator fan does work when the car heats up to the levels it is set to come on, or I hit my manual fan switch inside.

Can anyone point me in the right direction??

have you tried checking the coolant level? you can buy a guage at advance or az--they sell them individually or as part of a recharge/refill kit. another thing you may want to consider is having a leak test done--you can either do this yourself w/ a dye or have it diagnosed by professionals. my car, for example, there's a leaky valve, so the coolant was escaping through there. still havn't fixed, but hopefully will when uncle sam gives me my tax money back. good luck.

I thought about checking coolant level, but if my understanding is right, the compressor should kick on one way or the other when I jump the low pressure safety switch. It is not kicking on, even when jumped.

i think you're supposed to jump the compressor itself...? not sure, so don't quote me on that.

there is only a 2 wire plug going to the compressor so i would imagine its just a power/ground circuit. find out which is which and put battery power directly to the compressor. u could use jumper wires if u have a set long enough and u could use power from the battery itself since they sit close enough to each other under the hood, unless your battery is in the trunk.

that's what we did--i thought i remembered correctly.

so the only switch wired with the compressor is the high-pressure switch? is it open? test for voltage on either side. I dobut you have high pressure in your system, if anything there is probaly a leak and it might be cutting out on low pressure if there is that switch.
