i have a 2003 mustang mach 1 it has street tires. the are not high performance or anything like that but for the time being i am using them for drag racing will lowering the air pressure in them give me more or less traction? the tires are not very soft so the side wall does not flex much.

As a general rule of thumb it's best to run street tires at their intended pressure. If you were running drag radials you might see a difference by running low pressure, and definitely with slicks you would.

If you have the OEM rims, may God have mercy of your right foot. Traction is tough to find. Just when you think you've feathered it off of the line it'll lose traction again at the top of the tach in 1st AND 2nd gear. I run my front tires at 34 and the rears at 30...hoping for a little help until I get some better rubber. I have Sumi's F&R, 315/35X17 in the rear and 275/40X17 in the front, on 11 and 9 inch rims, respectively. Best of Luck and WELCOME to Stangnet!

Really depends on the tire, but I've found ~25 lbs. is better than 30+ lbs. at the drag strip on street tires. I wouldn't go much below 25 lbs., though, as it's pretty hard on the tire, especially at higher speeds.
