When buying a used Mustang, is there any way to tell if the airbags are still there?
Most sellers won't let you take the steering column apart and I'm told that the computer warning can be altered to eliminate it. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Run it into a light pole?

I can understand that not having airbags in a car that should have them might be a concern, but really, as far as Fox-body 'Stangs go, they don't make THAT big of a difference in most accidents. Most of the wrecks I've seen 5.0 guys getting into are either side- or rear-impact deals caused by others - y'know, inattentive jackholes that run red lights, tailgate people, and/or yammer on their cell phones when they should be paying attention to the road.

If the kind of car you're looking at is so pristine that whether or not the airbags are there is the only deal-breaker, then you may as well assume that they're still in; if you're looking at a car so stripped-down and rough that you suspect they may be missing, then airbags are likely the LEAST of your worries for that car.
