I want to run mine one last time because I have a set of heads I want to put on and a MSD set up. I hope to hit 9.5 to 9.3 tonight. Last time I ran a 9.7

I am looking at your mods and don't see any forced induction anywhere. Do I understand you to say that you run a sub 10 second 1/4 on a NA 289? If so, I am calling Shenannigans on you. Do you accept the Shenannigans challange?

Yeah, its 1/8th mile, although there are some 1000' tracks out there. What you need to do is post all your incrementals off your time slips. That way if your running 1/4 mile, a guy running the 1/8th that has similar numbers to you up to that point has an idea what his car runs in the 1/4.

IT was a good night and bad night. On the first run I ran a 9.55 with 20psi not bad I was happy as hell. Then I started to add more fuel and take air out and it went from a 9.55 to a 9.72 then the last run was a 9.78. The second run I was racing a 70 duster with a 340 and he ran a 9.49. I was sleeping at the light a .5561 have not raced in over a year. ALL in all I still had a great time. New heads are going on the car in 12 hours so next week might be a different story

there are generic equations for converting 1/8th to 1/4 mile times, but they're not the best.

my recommendation is to keep a log of your timeslips and put them all into a spreadsheet.

if your "local" track is just 1/8th mile, see if you can make a trip to the 1/4 mile and make a few passes. this will give you a baseline for comparison against your 1/8th mile times.

now, you can figure out a "best fit" equation for YOUR CAR to convert 1/8th to 1/4.

do all your testing and tuning at the local track and you can chart your improvement in the 1/4 too!

granted, it's not going to be 100% perfect, but it'll give you some idea of how you're doing.

Sorry about that I ment on the tires I was taken more air. I dropped it down to 15 psi for my second and third run. It was a bad night for a guy on a bike first time at the track a noob and he did not slow down after the finish line and hit the end of the tack at a 103 mph bike went in the air and so did he. They got a chopper out there and it a good Hour away from everyone. Not saying nothing bad about the guy.

If you are running radial tires letting the air out that much will hurt you on your 60' times, radial tires as you let air out they do bulge but the center of the tire raises up therefor giving you less of a contact patch.

do not let air out of street tires, they don't work that way, especially at 15 psi.

letting PSI out of street tires depends on the tire.

i've had good luck using 25-28psi.

on bridgestone potenza RE-730s and yokohama avs-i's i've cut 2.0 60 fts fairly consistently in both my 67 and also in a 90 GT with just gears.

you just gotta experiment with the right amount of "burnout", pressure, and launch technique.

Both are right. Easiest way to tell is set the PSI and do a small spin test on concrete. Look at the burn marks and see if the whole tire is touchin the ground. If you see 4 thin strips of rubber, air 'em up.
