- 160* tstat would keep car cooler then a 180*

- Start car let idle, adjust screw until it idles nicely at about 900rpms or less steadily

- Your radiator hose if it wasn't replaced could have been mushy from age and just blew

- Double check your timing, retorque heads, retorque lower intake you could have a/f leaking out exhaust port of lower...it's common retorque that crap

- Take off CAI tubing and push the tbody open near speedo cable with engine off see if it comes open all the way and let off slowly see if it sticks

- Chances are that surging idle problem you're having is IAC, idle air control sensor, it mounts on or near tbody big round top piece with 1 plug going into it, held in by 2 bolts, get a new one its about $50, not even worth cleaning the old 1.

How hot did motor get when you overheated?

Here is a thought, your tstat may be TOO cold..... by this i mean that when the coolant in your engine reaches a certain temp, the tstat sends it out to the rad, now cause the tstat is cooler, that means that it sends the coolant to the rad more often........ your coolant may not be spending as much time in your rad to cool off, so your coolant may be re-entering your engine hot........ just a thought
