Alot of play in my steering wheel

Hello, i have a 94 mustang gt and lately i have had alot of play in my steering wheel. Its like it turns alot befor the car actually moves. What could be the problem and how much will it cost to fix.

Could you maybe explain that a little better? Usually when someone says they have play I think of the steering wheel moving off of it's center. Are you saying that you have to turn the steering wheel maybe 3/4 of a turn just to make a slight left in a corner on the road or what?

i've got a little play, but most of my front suspension is worn out

new rack and/or rack bushings


i'm doin:-> (will be ordered in about 2-3 weeks)
rack
rack bushings
a arms
shocks
struts
tie rods
possible: springs, just because i'm there

Sounds like a worn rag joint. Cheap fix. Not the easiest thing though. Good luck.

First thing I would check is the rag joint, then inner tie rods.

Ditto and can most likely guarantee that's what it is. Headers melt and dry rot the rubber bushing there and it gets loose.

where do I buy a rag joint because I think thats the problem I have too, its got a lot of slack in the wheel...

I had similar problem years ago. The rag joint was sloppy. I just got rid of the entire steering shaft and installed a new steering shaft that has a u-joint (similar to a u-joint in the driveshaft). I can't think of the manufacturer of the steering shaft but I can get the info if you want it. Have not had any problems since and the steering response is tight. Peace
