Folks,

I'd like to install a different stereo head unit. I don't need huge, deafining sound or subwoofers the size of my Marshall amplifier.

I'm looking for medium-cost, reliable, can hook in an iPod, easy to deal with while driving.

Any suggestions? What (if anything) have you put in your head unit?

Pictures of your head units?

Where did you get yours, and how good is the head unit adaptor?

Inquiring minds want to know...

I have an Alpine-9833 in my car right now. Works and sounds beautiful. It has all the features any audiophile loves including 5band parametic EQ and 3-way crossover features as well as time correction. It is 60 watts x 4, 26 RMS going to each speaker. Will play mp3 and WMA files, including disc and folder search & shuffling. It is XM and I-pod ready (with adaptor/reciever.) Its been on the market a few years now, and Im pretty sure you can pick one up for around 200 bucks new off ebay.

Its bigger and newer brother the 9855 is flasher and offers easier to use functions, controls, etc. You couldnt go wrong with either of these units. Looks great in the dash, many have thought it was OEM (though I dont see how personally.)
