alternator 3-G upgrade question

I been looking through the post and can't seam to find and answer
for this one. I have a 1991 Fox and I was going to go with a one wire
alternator. will the gauge in the dash still work?
To me it looks more like a volt gauge that an Amp Gauge

I'm asking a lot of questions when the weather brakes I'm going
to attack the Fox and make some changes and I'm trying to get
what I need ahead of time.

The 3G has more than 1 wire. the only 1 wire alt that I know of is the GM 1 wire. there is a good write up in the sticky: Technical Thread/How-To Index. Im wiring mine now. it helped me out.

Some aftermarket Alts are 1 wire.

The stock gauge is a voltage gauge. They haven't put an amp gauge in a car in a decade or two.

The gauge should still function.
