My car died on the highway today due to a bad alternator so I was either thinking about getting a 130 or a 200 amp one from PA.

My question is what one should I get? I know the 200 is better suited for cars with stereos and such, but exactly how much power should be one draining to require a 200?

I plan to get myself a sytem later on and was wondering if I had to step up to the 200, or if I could be fine with the 130. Not a crazy system, but something nice.

I just don't know if the extra cost for the 200 amp is worth it.

Thanks for any help, it's most appreciated.

Yeah it's better to do it right the first time rather than having to buy something twice. Go with the 200 amp alt then you won't have to worry about it again.

So if I get the 200 one, I have to change out some wires correct? How hard is that exactly? I'd hate to screw up something.

Thanks.

I new stock alt and a good battery without a underdrive pulley. I have a 1200 watts system and it is fine advance sells them with a lifetime warranty but the recipts fade fast so make a photo copy. But if you have the money go bigger.

Doing good man! School just let out so I'm done with studying and writing paper and other crap like that until August. It's nice to finally take a damn break.

How you doing man? Everything cool I assume?

Regarding the thread, I might just stick with a 130. I don't see myself getting a system that cost like 5 grand and needs a crap load of power, thus justifying a 200 amp purchase. I think I'll be fine with a 130 for a pair of component speakers, two small subs, like 12", and an amp, and of course, my already bought reciever. I should be fine, no?

Thanks for the help guys, it's appreciated.

Glad to hear everything is going well! Did you ever get to use your Zaino products?

Also, you can try asking over on TBMustangs and see if anyone over there has an alternator they are getting rid of.
