Alternator help ?

I just did my 6g alt upgrade and it is doing this weird thing were, when I start the car and let it idel it would go up to like 14.1-15.1volts? and on the gauge the needle would bounce up and down?

does anyine know what could be the problem? also one time it shot up to like 16 I think and my amp light came on dunno, I put one ground wire from behind the batt to the engine, would putting two more ground wires help it?

no. i have seen othere cars so this before. i think it is the crappy unacurate factory gauges. but adding more grounds isnt going to help or keep the voltage from spiking if it really is, and not a gauge problem.

I also used a meter to check the voltage from the batt. and it also is spiking also, reads 14.1-15.7 volts...?

Voltage regulator maybe?!

thats what i was thinking... dunno ill go get a new one and see...

Did you disconnect the 10G wires from both ends?? In other words, you took the two off the OEM alt, did you disconnect the other ends at the solenoid??
