alternator mounting (turbo and supercharge people)

heres my issue.....

last week i mounted my turbo headers to get an idea for how they would fit. They are for a fox body so i ran into one primary problem. The flange for the wastgate hits my alternator. The headers need to be moved about 1" forward of their current position to line up with the bolt holes, but the flange hits the alternator.

What are possible solutions? Keep in mind cutting and rewelding is OUT of the question for me (cant weld and dont want to hack up my headers and downpipe). Can i go with a March fox alternator bracket? Then what about my heater coolant hoses?

heres a pic to explain....the header needs to move about an inch forward

I dont know if this is a possibility as it might mess with the way your crossover tube is routed or what not(id have to see how your setup is plumbed) but do a search for 1105. He took the brackets from a thunderbird or something which mounts the alternator where the A/C compresser would be. Obviously you wouldnt have A/C, and im not sure if you still have yours so thats a possibility. Other then that option, I think your only other option would involve some welding. Let me know if I make sense, im kinda out of it today.

why are you using fox headers again?

Brian at bng said that since i did not run a/c or smog, that the fox headers would work. Apparently his new version of them would, but when i had mine made they were the "old" version and they apparently do not clear the alternator. So basically i am **** out of luck since the wait for new headers is at least 12 weeks and i plan to have my car done by then.

i have searched under 1105's name before, but all his pics are red x's:bang:

i would call brian and have him fix the problem, hes an understanding guy, dont even mess witht he fox **** it will be a headache

Speaking of this, does anyone make an adapter to put the alternator somewhere else? especially if you are smog delete and/or a/c delete? I would just like to get it out of the top of the engine considering how it blocks the view of the valve covers and all.....

i did. he said his new versions clear the alternator on our cars but the old version (mine) do not. The wait on a set of 94-95's is 12 weeks, which is when i plan on having my car done.

He also told me to use the march alternator bracket so im asking here to see if it will work with my alternator etc....

true....my order has been screwed up a couple times, like the 02 bungs werent welded in, so he had to send them separetly and he didnt send me the wastegate the first time. Ive already talked to them the past 2 days in a row.....and i really need to sort this out. Because i really dont feel like having this issue:( .

get on his ass and dont take no for an answer. life skills

If brian isn't willing to work with you, which he should, hes a great guy. Why not take the header to a well known welding shop and tell them to relocate it. It'd be cheap and hell, Brian might even take the bill.
