Just got my alternator replaced off warranty. No one makes them but Motorcraft and the damn things go for 535 bucks!!. My mechanic is an honest man and cut me a huge break and only charged me 50 buckd labor. But come on, $535 for a freakin' alternator?

Why didn't you just opt to get it rebuilt? I know a guy who rebuilds alternators to original spec for about $110. $535 is definitely expensive for an alternator.

I thought of that, but it's my daily driver and I had to get it done 1st thing in the morning in order to get to work just reasonably late

sybidoc, how many miles you got ? just wondering when i could expect my alt to take a dump.

i only have 11,000 miles.
