It definitely wouldn't hurt to get a bigger alt. Your E-fan for the HVAC is the biggest concern and you don't want to be in a situation where you're pulling more than your alt is capable of providing.

I don't recall what alternator casing is in a 65 but a 2G (85 amp) would probably be more than enough although, going bigger is not really an issue. Ensure that your wire and cables are heavy enough for the current pull.
