I own a 2002 Gt and wanted to look for a cheap way to replace the short block. Do the 05 and later factory short blocks come with an aluminum block and are they capable of handling more power than the 99-2004 short blocks (400 HP Limit)?

05+ is aluminum and they can hold 550 BHP. However to use that block you would need to swap out the piston for a 2V piston.
