I heard that an aluminum 4.6 lincoln block could be used in our mustangs. Is this true? Which year lincoln is it in? Can I swap everything over? What about the flexplate? I want to build a motor for my car and I just thought that it would be lighter. Any help would be great.
if the block is good then there won't be an issue with its age plus a new block is $1000 more then a used Teksid.
there are a few differences between the Teksid(aluminum from Mark VIII) block and the Iron 2V block. One being the lack of a water passage that needs to be drilled that 2V heads have and 4V don't. Its very easy and when you lay down the head gasket you will see where it needs to go on the water pump housing area of the block. And one of the holes on the timing cover doesn't line up perfectly. You can RTV it and use your stock timing cover or find a cover off a 94-95 Tbird/Cougar with a 4.6 2V as they fit perfect. I found mine on ebay for $40.
