the ford racing aluminum d/s is about 1 inch shorter then my stock one. is that right or did the wrong one get sent to me? i am running a 3550 in my car.
You need a DS spacer with the 3550, are you re-using it? Could it be that you got the #M-4602-"J" instead of the "G"? I don't know if that one is shorter but what else could it be.
Did you hold these 2 D/S up side-by-side for this comparison, or measure each?
Or did you have the stock D/S in the car with the T-5, and swapped both the trans and D/S at the same time?
FWIW - the trans is ~11/16" shorter and requires a longer D/S or a spacer. If you swapped both at the same time, it would appear that the D/S is shorter.
