I am installing a mcleod clutch and A/L flywheel. Everything bolts up fine except the fact that the dowels used to line up the flywheel and pressure plate are to small. They just fall through. What to do?

No, but Ive been thinking about getting a flywheel, what kind did you get, how much was it, how long did it take to install, and how much power are you expecting? Thanks

I got the mcleod aluminum flywheel through maximum motorsports I think for 375. I'm not installing it a friend is. The install is a breeze from what I've heard. It's the removal of that darn passenger side BBK LT header thats the bitch.

How much power do we get from flywheels?

No power gain, just less rotating mass, it weighs less. Therefore the car will rev quicker, but rpms drop quickly when you let off the gas, quicker than when your flywheel is heavier, so shift quickly. BUt a worthwhile mod.

well, lets just say more HP and TQ is freed through the aluminum flywheel. About how much power is freed, not sure... I'll be sure to post up when i get mine done. But this is after cams

So no one knows about how to align these flywheels without the dowels?

As long as you can get the pressure plate bolts into the flywheel and torqued down you should be fine.

The alignment dowels are just for what they're named... alignment. As long as they're there and you press the pressure plate up to the flywheel as far as it will go ... bolt it down in a star pattern and go to town.

Just rememeber to use the clutch disk alignment tool when putting the pressure plate over the disc, otherwise you'll have a whole slew of other problems ahead.
