What would the HP difference be on a carbed 5.0 between the GT40 y heads and Edelbrock Performers? Consider everything the same just swap heads. I can get the Y heads new for $700 or used Edelbrocks for the same price. Which would be the better deal?

My guess would be at least 10hp up to 20hp. (Edelbrock over 40's)(40ish hp to other 50-60 hp). You want to add a little more than just heads. You will see much more gains from the heads with intake, carb or bigger tb's cam etc upgrades. The heads are a great improvement but point being, on a stock engine you really won't get the max potential out of the heads. But.....we all got to start somewhere and heads are a big hp booster. Good luck

Go for the edelbrocks. The 40 p's
I heard are much better.

I never said it was a stock engine. It has an Edelbrock Performer intake, Holley 600 4-bbl, Edelbrock Performer cam, Crane 1.7 RR, Hooker Super Comp Headers.

The 40ps are cast iron, I'm definitely going aluminum. Also the 40ps require special headers which aren't made for my Cobra.
