Aluminum hood oxidation

Just noticed this on my car several hours ago. I am going to keep an eye on it and see how it progresses. I have to consider if it will be progressive or not. And have to weigh the pros and cons of having the hood replaced or repainted-when it may will recur possibily after the repair-as is reported commonly.

I dare you to show this thread to your boss or his boss and ask them if it is worth it not to take care of their customers in this highly competitive automotive market! I dare you! This thread has had over 1600 views so far. Much bad press for Ford.

Very disappointing. And it seems that Ford will do nothing after 12 months unless there is perforation of metal--not just corrosion.

This is all limited to the underside of the hood --along the weld between the outer and inner hood assembly on the leading edge of the hood--not visible when the hood is closed.

The internet is alive with owner's complaints of Ford aluminum hood corrosion-not just Mustang corrosion.Excursions,Explorers,Tauras,Rangers-seems like any Ford that has aluminum hoods can have this issue! Hard to understand why Ford hasnt corrected this in production and hasn't addressed it in customer service better than it has. These complaints of corrosion has been going on for almost 10 years.

I just bought my daughter a 2010 Honda Civic-we looked at Fiestas and the 2012 Focus-but after considering how Ford handles their customers-such as this case of corrosion-I wanted my daughter to have a used Certified Honda over a new Ford.(Especially after my daughter drove a 2001 Focus for eight years and 100k miles-what a nightmare that was! )

Go ahead, Ford-save a dollar in customer service-and lose thousands in future sales by continuing like this-like it is 1964 and Ford has over 35 percent of the domestic market again. See what happens to your future!

If a company wants to be highly successful and have high quality product-that company would closely link customer service with their engineering and quality control departments.(I personally would make it one department.It would allow quick identification and correction of problems) And not gage customer service just on how little they spend-but how successful customer service is in correcting problems and elevating customer satisfaction and increasing market share.

I appreciate your personal efforts . We all do on this forum and the other Mustang forums that you are on . But it will be a Corporate decision as to what will be done.

I think that the OP should have his repair done by Ford at zero cost to the OP. Let's get that done.

I was literally going to buy a new Mustang today, but reading this post changed my mind. You have a known defect, but you are asking the customer to pay for it. Unacceptable.
