The odd thing is that RPMoutlet.com already has the Professional Products intake listed as if they have it in stock.

Someone order it and see if they actually do...

....I think it's a waste of money for the most part. It's still based off of a stock casting, which has been proven to be more than capable enough to handle airflow needs for even the most extensive N/A bolt ons. Not only that, but even if the runners can be ported, it's made of cast aluminum, which doesn't have smooth and contoured finish like the plastic one it's based off of has. The turbulence it will create alone will be enough to set back most of the additional volume it might gain. I’ve got a feeling that if this intake is ever actually released; a lot of people are going to end up spending hundreds of dollars for the equivalent of 3-4hp and the ability to tell people the uniqueness of running an aluminum manifold on their hood.

The reason mustang people start to drool when they hear aluminum "stock style" intake is because they want an intake with near stock torque charactaristics with the ability to handle a nitrous backfire safely. It is not because we want to brag about having an aluminum intake. Think a little before bashing people, beacause you are usually wrong. Aluminum is better for us than just looks. And hell, if it took away 5 hp, but was metal and a decent price, I thing every wet kit owner would have one, and they would be proud of it.

Who was I bashing? I gave my opinion about the piece itself and didn't single anyone out in the process. Don’t get so defensive......what, have you got shares in this company or something, or better yet, are you the guys selling the intake on Ebay? And I'm usually wrong.......now which one of us is doing the bashing?.......I think most of the people on this board might disagree with you about that one! Perhaps you need to do a little thinking for yourself before you speak?

If you want to ensure protection against a nitrous backfire, then go with a direct port system that would eliminate any puddling of fuel in the runners what so ever, like the one sold at the top of this forum. Just because the particular manifold described in this thread is made of aluminum, doesn't mean it's going to ensure against the effects of a backfire! Fuel still puddles in the runners and goes boom in the same way!?! Sure, it may hold up a little better than a plastic manifold, but nitrous/fuel explosions are volatile events, either way. It's not a guarantee that either manifold will hold up agains one. And now instead of ruining a Plastic PI manifold that can be had for under $150.00, you've toasted an aluminum one that cost 3-times as much.

......maybe you should watch this video smart guy. I'm sure he thought having an aluminum manifold would be a safe bet too. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/index.asp?fileid=880724C3-1AB3-43C9-96A8-491BD5FBDD33

Yup. I'm planning on getting one of the intakes offered by Bob at HPS. Hopefully, it will work, and I'm going to due my best to get some before/after dyno runs to see if it makes any power. In fact, there is a guy at Modular Depot (I think Millzenator) is getting together a group purchase on the HPS intakes. The intake is listed at 600 dollars for the lower, and 700 for both the upper and the lower.

As for that intake listed on that ebay page, it is a replicated stock piece. The bottom of the page tells you it is a hand made and fabricated prototype of the stock intake design, just in full aluminum. Good price on it though.....but I'm a little suspicious about the seller.

I would understand the bias if ford did not have a huge recall due to the factory plastic intakes failing.

If you were one of the people that had one fail you may have a differnet opion on wanting an economical option.

1200-1500 for an alumimum intake should be considered rape in all 50 states.

I know what you mean. At least this is their own design, I'm more okay with that. I have a much bigger problem with them stealing the designs of American companies. Compare their stuff to Edelbrock...how is that legal?

As a sidenote, the same can be said for Granatelli. Most of their stuff is made in China too (at least as of a year ago).

Actually, the Professional Products piece looks like a rip off of the Trick Flow upper intake. Least in all the pictures I seen of it it did. You are right about companies copying other companies products, but that goes on in all parts of the marketting world. Thanks for telling me that Granatelli parts are made in China. In that case, I'll be avoiding them as well. I'm getting sick of everything being made in China.

I was complaining that you said it would to be "show-offish" if a person decided to get one. I could see where that piece could be priceless to someone who wanted to feel a lot safer running a wet shot. You told me that if I am so worried about it, then I should buy a direct port kit. I have one. I have no need for the aluminum intake because of it, but I figured I would post the link to help someone else out.

I wasn't implying that someone would buy one to be "show-offish" as you put it, from a visual aspect. It's just that so many people are under the impression that having an aluminum intake over the plastic one would be so much better from a performance stand point in general......and I'm just here to say that it isn’t necessarily so. Sure, the Aluminum model may provide a little strength over the plastic one in the event of a nitrous backfire, but as you well know, it doesn’t guarantee reliability. Aside from a little added strength, what else has it got going for it? It’s adds about 25lbs to the front end of your car right off the bat and being based off the stock design means that the runners are going to be no higher flowing than that of a stock PI manifold. As it is, the inside of the runners are going to be full of casting flash and as rough as 80-grit sandpaper, which would lead to a more turbulent and obtrusive air path in comparison to the plastic one and in order to correct this, you'd have to pretty much cut it to pieces in order to port it properly. Finally the Aluminum manifold gets pistol hot to the point where you can't even touch it, in comparison to the plastic one which will remain far, far cooler to keep air charge temps down and under hood temps under control.

I was implying that even though it may sound “cool” to brag about owning an aluminum intake manifold on a modular mustang, since nobody else has one.....it won't nearly be as beneficial as many are lead to believe. You’d have to have some serious flowing runners and superior design like the FRPP, Bullitt, P-51 or other comparable models, just to off set the negative aspects and make it worth while. To drop that kind of cake on a basically stock manifold because of the material its made of is just a waste IMO.

Posting the link is fine with me, I never had a problem with it to start with. But in the same respect, don't get angry and attempt to downplay my views when I voice my opinion about it, just because they doesn't mirror your own.

They make heads and an intake for 5.0L that is a direct ripoff of the Edelbrock RPM series. The worst part is when I see small town speed shops selling their crap and have the Edelbrock parts right next to them.

If BBK is making one, then I would honestly wait on their lower intake piece. BBK is making better products these days, and you can always buy the BBK Upper intake elbow and 75mm throttle body combo for now from rpmoutlet for 299.95 w/ free shipping. Least I think they're still doing that deal.

it comes in 3 pieces so you can port it yourself according to the website. other than that, i agree with what you're saying.
