Most say that you butt meter will not see any difference with an aluminum shaft. There should be an advantage though, as you loose about 6 lbs of rotating weight from one of the critical areas.
For a while I looked to purchase a beefed up driveshaft for my Stang which had the puny 1310 u-joints and rubber vibration dampner. I found a place that had aluminum shafts priced less than what the big boys wanted for their steel shafts. After checking out his references, I ordered a custom length aluminum driveshaft with 1330 solid spicer U-joints, new tranny and pinion yokes, and new U bolts. I received all of it in less than one week. Less than $340 for all (with u joints and tranny yoke installed):
The shaft was made with 1/8" Alcoa 6061-T6 seamless tubing:

The old steel shaft had the rubber insulator. OK for lessening vibration, but not good for strength:

Here are the old and new pinion yokes. Note the difference in width. Small one is a 1310 and the new larger is a 1330. Also there is a difference in U-joint cap size. 1 1/16" vs. 1 1/8" at the pinion yoke:

I put both shafts on a postal scale and the stock one weighed a little over 18lbs vs slightly less than 12lbs for the aluminum shaft. You can definitely feel the 6+ pounds difference.
I haven't installed the new shaft, so I can't say how it will perform, but it should handle all I can put to it with the stroker, 4 speed and sticky tires:
