Always a bitch to get in second gear? why???

Basically the title says it all.. It goes in sometimes fine, But most of the time its grinding and thats with normal driving.. It will grind for a little bit, then if i keep jiggling it, it will go in gear. Some times though, It will just refuse to get in gear. However, once it is in gear, it seems to be fine.. any ideas???

That about covers it except for that the cable might just be plain ole' out of adjustment. If you have the stock quadrant, you may be missing some teeth.

If you haven't already, get a good quadrant, FWA, cable kit, well worth the money.

but if it was the cable, then wouldnt be getting into fourth just as hard? Only 2nd gear gives me problems.

also, I have a metal quadrant...

I had the SAME exact problem.

Replace it with a Maximum Motorsports Cable/Firewall Adjuster/Quadrant - You WILL not be dissapointed!

I was this ][ close to buying a new tranny, put MM setup mentioned above in the car, and felt like a new tranny again!

Cable stretched or not adjusted well enough ... or previous owner liked powershifting 2nd at high r's and put some wear on the syncro.
