Throwing the B.S. flag, asking for a full list of mods, is what I was refering to. It hijacks a thread and thats all I was saying. But to give you the answer you are looking for:

Stroked to 5.0
Sutton HP P&P Heads and SVO intake (yes it was port matched to my heads)
S-trim with 14lbs
Comp ex270 cams
J-Mod tranny
4.10 gears
C springs
upper\lower control arms
AJE K-member
fuel system to support
Sutton HP custom tune
etc etc etc
I think you get the idea.

An S Trim (unintercooled at the time) 4.10s, e.t. streets and most of the other fun stuff. Nothing crazy or out of the norm as far as cams, and boost levels. A much simplier set up than most people expect.

doesnt reflect your mod list.

Sorry I didn't feel like listing my mods. It isn't that far off, I figured when I said most of the fun stuff you could fill in the blanks.

Asking my mods to decided if it was possible for me to make the claimed mph = calling b.s.

That is how the tranny is setup. keep haing the O/D on and it'll start banging because of a 4 to 1st shift.

Yea sorry to come off all pissy, too many people try to tell me I'm full of $hit. It could be done on stock displacement, a 5speed and turning up the boost a little more. I started putting an intercooler on today, hope to finish tonite and tune in the morning. And if the racing gods fall in line, I hope to run it tomorrow nite at the track when my dad takes his 05. I'll try to post the results for ya. Again sorry for being a d*ck.

How would you manually shift into 4th? Its 1,2,D on the shifter. Why you you want to go to 4th, your idle set up is to stay in 3rd till the end of the track. I do it with 4.10's+S Trim with 26" tires. I am pretty sure I trapped 123mph at about 6300 rpms (trying to remember).

i should of made my statement more clearer on the track i race with O/D off and finish the race in 3rd. On the shifter it is 1,2,D true that but on the shifter handle below the big button is the O/D button (it's a grey color button) to manually disengage O/D that's fords way off doing it. On a chevy everybody has seen it be 1,2,D and a D with a circle around it meaning O/D. But it's an elecrtonic engagement on a ford giving the term AOD-E for electronic shifting and electronic engagement and disengagement of the O/D. Although all new cars have elecrtonic shifting.

O?D weak

The 3-4 shift is a synchro shift kinda like the old c-4. I used c-4's in my last two `stangs. I blew them up about 1 every 6 months(built like hell) the last one finally broke the bank and I gave up the N2o car. The point is 3rd gear clutches release at the same time O/D locks. THe ballon that happens if the sift is not timed PERFECT shockloads O/D. Ford used kevlar cluches for O/D. Still not too good. I don't do anymore 100 mhp 3-4 shifts with mine. My power levels are approaching a point to where i am going to start losing them all over again. Just imagine the 5 speed auto in 2005 models. ever shift is sychro. I race 1/8 mile so o/d is not necessary. 4.56 is my next mod( probably).

NEVER shift to OD at WOT. Set your gearing and tire size up to trap in 3rd gear near red-line. I trap at 135 mph and 6700 rpm in 3rd gear with 28 inch slicks. My rev limiter is at 7500 rpm.

Your my idle. lol No really though I randomly saw we have some what similar set ups and saw where I could get this thing near. I figure with a 26" I should be able to get near 10.7 this year. Will have to wait till next year to really make the power I'll need to drop below a 10.5. Taller tire, more boost, and some suspension work and I should be close to my goal. It all comes down to how much I can afford to spend this winter.

Guys....Help me understand this one. My 2001 4r70w runs a 14.09 stock & I'm at approx. 4,500 rpm's through the 1/4 mile traps w/ the stock 3:27 gears. I want to install 4:10 gears. If my assumptions are correct, my car will shift into overdrive before the end of the track which is bad. So unless I incease the size of my rear tires....4:10 gears would be a poor choice for 1/4 mile runs. Would 3:73's be a better choice for a street / strip auto trans. car to keep it in third gear at the end of the track ? Is anyone running 4:10's and trapping while still in 3rd gear ? Thoughts please !

When I turn off O/D it seems to turn itself back on once I hit somewhere between 85 and 90.. Is it supposed to do that?

Here's a related question: when do valves start to float on a stock 4.6, and what is the rpm limiter set at?

Uhhh... OD is controlled by a relatively thin band, not clutches and that's why it's suicide for the tranny to do a WOT 3-4 shift. It's as bad to do a 4-2 kickdown. Ford didn't use anything Kevlar inside the tranny and for a street car kevlar is not good - it doesn't burn, but it does slip and creates lots of heat which is very bad.
