I have an 86 mustang with a vortech a trim, trickflow intake, msd,373s, 2 1/2 inch exhaust with headers, cats and flowmasters, this car has the stock engine and has been running mid 13s for years with no traction(locker doesn't work)I just bought a gt-40 crate motor and i am wondering if i should save some more cash and do the tranny and axels at the same time rather than just waiting till every thing breaks, I am guessing i should have around 450 flywheel HP with my new motor and my blower. AM i goin to break everything the fist week i have it out or what?

You should think about going to 31 or 33 spline axles, a heavy duty posi unit or rebuild the traction lock which wouldn't last as long but cheaper for the kit, about $50.00, and heavy duty upper and lower control arms, and eventually a upgraded T-5, TKO, or C-4 racing automatic.
For now , if you are easy on it, keep your rpms low when you launch, and don't run slicks, you should be ok.
It's all how hard you are on it.
I have GT-40 crate in my 93 GT Mustang with no power adder, 345hp at the flywheel. I launch at 4000rpms with Hoosier Quick Time Pros and run 13.3.
Here's my set-up below.
Good luck!

Removed / BBK Short Headers / Flowmaster Exhaust / Tremec T-5Z / B&M Short Throw Shifter / Alum. Driveshaft / 3.73 Gears / Eaton H.D. if you already plan on replacing the axles and trans anyway, id go ahead and run it until you blow them up. you wouldnt be out anything but a tow bill, and it may last longer than you think.

id rebuild or replace the posi, and use any tranny BUT a c4 or t5 unless you can get them by the truckload. id bet the stock 28 spline axles will hold up just fine.
