American Thunder Cat-Back got some ???'s

I am about to order the flowmaster American Thunder Cat-back.
For those of you that have it, did you notice any performance after it was installed. Would it be easy enough to install in my drive way?

welding in the driveway...Now thats country. Exhaust will only give you live 7hp on an otherwise stock car which aint poop. a little cleaner sound than just flowmaster mufflers alone which is what i had, and looks like you still have. you will only pick up like 3-4hp going from mufflers to cat back(at most).

??? You don't have to weld up that catback. It shouldn't be hard at all to it in the driveway. Just need 3 things: tools, a friend, and a little beer. that's what me and my friend did when we put on his x-pipe.

hey do these kits come with delta flows or 2 chamber mufflers? on ebay, one kit i saw has 40 series delta flow and on another website, they have a 2 chamber! which is it or are there 2 different kits?

40's are 2 chambers,2 chambers are 40's.
The only thing different is that they are either delta flows or originals.

just buy the 2-chamber mufflers nd weld them into your factory catback, you'll probably save $$ and get the same performance/sound as the Flowmaster catback

I have one used I am trying to get $200 out of. It is complete, no dents or anything just used for about 7,000 miles, never seen snow. It's in excellent shape. Just getting rid of it because I am getting rid of the car. In your sig it shows that you have Flowmasters now, so why would you want to buy an entire catback?

Get the Entire Cat back system pipes and all. The Tips are chrome and look a hell of alot better than the stock tips. I have the whole american thunder cat back, the tips say Flowmaster on them. Its awsome. get the 2-1/2" piping. It will flow better due to the larger pipe size than stock. I dont understand why these people are sayin to just have the mufflers welded in the stock pipes. Yea its Cheaper. But it does not look as good! heh

A tip from my install of my Force II catback:

Ditch the clamps for the tailpipes that come with it. They're really weak and break before the tailpipes are even clamped tight enough.
Go get some heavy duty 3/8" x 2 1/2" clamps from Autozone or wherever. Then you won't have to get under your car twice to switch out the POS clamps Flowmaster gives you.

Mine started leaking about a year after installation.

The piping diameter isnt going to do a thing performance/sound-wise. All he needs is the mufflers. If he wants tips to "look cool" then he can buy just tips and still save $$$. Theres absolutely no need for the entire catback from Flowmaster

Pitch black hit the nail on the head.
cost/hp gain ratio is not worth it. Only thing that is, is the exhaust tip appearance factor (to you). nobody else will notice, or care for that matter.

My friend Brian's Flowmaster cat-back isn'y even as old as my car and his tips look like dung. They are all discolored and the edges look brown and crusty.

My weld-in Borlas did more than his entire cat-back.

On top of all of the other stuff, the newest American Thunder does not come with Delta's or the basic 40 series. It now comes with their "Super" 40 series mufflers set up. Make sure it is this part number to get the newest set up though. There was a big mix up that I read about a while back where some were coming with the old or the new 40's.

That's the correct set with the Super 40's. Me personally, I saw the newest black HTS coated MAC cat back and heard them and decided to go that way instead of the Flows.

And I don't think the regular Flowmaster cat-back comes with the heavy chrome "Flowmaster" logoed tips - I think this is an option, not standard. (I didn't get them with my catback)
The 2.5" will always be better than the 2.25 inch, but you'd get more out of a mid pipe...and then you'd probably want the catback to match.

I say GET the WHOLE cat back SYSTEM!
Get the 2-1/2" piping ITS MANDREL BENT! The stock piping sux...

The catback system WILL accomodatethe Aftermarket Midpipe (as the aftermarket mid pipes are larger in diameter also! This will increase exhaust flow and somewhat give u some HP! FAUk da weld in mufflers!
