Does anyone have the American Thunder exhaust system installed with the 3" stainless tips?

If so do you like the system, how does it sound and more importantly can you show some pics....

hows the drone? i have dual 40 series flowmasters and at abuot 70mph i get a bad drone

I have the American Thunder system, but I dont have the 3 inch tips (2.5"), with the delta flow 40's. I notice a drone at low RPM, I dont have a tack but I would guess around 2,000 RPM. Ride is still relativly noisy at hwy speed, but is noticably (sp?) quieter that "the drone". The system will "open up" with use and become louder. I have recently noticed a "resonating" (sp?) sound at a specific RPM (below idle speed), sounds meatlic, probly just something not tightened down all the way. I installed the system myself and the only negative comment I can make is that the front of the H pipe was too narrow (by about 1"-1.5") for my tri-y headers. but a little fancy cutting and welding cured this problem. Overall a great choice IMO

Do they make a kit with 3" tips? Mine is 2.5" with 2.5" stainless tips and delta 40 mufflers. I like the kit overall. It fits good and looks good. I wish I could hear the same mellow rumble from the interior that you hear when standing outside the car. You do hear a bit of a drone when inside the car. Here are some old pic's of mine before paint. They're not real good shots of the exhaust but it's all I have on my computer. I apologize ahead of time if they don't attach, I've never attached pictures before.

According to there website the new American Thunder kits come with 3" stainless tips.....which is why I am intrested in seeing pics if anyone has the new system.

I saw on their website an American Thunder kit for Fairlanes and Comets that had 3" tips. I couldn't find one listed for Mustangs that specified 3" tips. I think 3" tips would look really good on a '67 or later Mustang that has the rear pan with exhaust cut-outs.

My '65 has the standard rear pan and the exhaust tips hang below it. IMO, the 2.5" tips look just right for this configuration. I think the 3" tips would look too big hanging below the rear pan.

You know what your right, I must have missed that when looking at the website.....so I would assume that the system would not work with a Mustang, right?

I'd venture to say that the tailpipes on the Fairlane kit are going to be too long for a Mustang. The kit they list for the Mustangs says for years 64-66, but I'd think the kit would also fit the 67-68 body as well. They are very similar platforms. You may have to modify the kit hangers or something. Of course, that's going to give you 2.5" stainless tips not the 3" that you were wanting.
Back before the American Thunder kits came out, a buddy of mine ordered a set of aluminum, mandrel-bent tailpipes from Flowmaster for his '66 Mustang. You might could get something like that and then have 3" tips welded to them. Just some food for thought if you really want the 3" tips.
