Just past the 1000 mile point on the odometer and changed the oil and filter over to Amsoil XL7500 5W20 with Amsoil filter.

Several forums I have searched, I find that a lot of you like Mobil1, so I was just curious if anyone else out there uses Amsoil??

when I hit 5k on my '04 she'll be getting Amsoil. Right now I'm running Mobil 1, but when I priced it all out, the Amsoil really wasn't that much more. Which kind did you get?

You do realize that the XL7500 is the low end of the Amsoil line? It is made with Group III stock rather than the preferred Group IV pure synthetic stock that Mobil1 and the more expensive Amsoil oils are made of.

XL7500 used to be made with the same pure synthetic base stock as the rest of the Amsoil line but, they changed the formula a few years ago to try and create a less expensive entry level oil.

The 7500 in the name stands for the change interval. It is recommended that you change it at 7500 miles rather than the higher change intervals of the more expensive oils in the Amsoil line.

Here is a link that you can look at (scroll about 2/3 down the page)

The XL7500 is the only 5W20 Amsoil offers right now, so I am going with it. I have used the extended life 5W30 in my other vehicles and have been happy as well as their 2 cycle oils, chain case oils.
