and it starts....long tube header install...

well guys an hour ago i started my install of my flowtech LT's with there O/r x pipe. iT looks as if my day is gonna be a long one lol. I cant wait to hear this thing run after the headers and x pipe are installed compared to the stock exhaust manifolds and O/r h pipe.... Any thing i need to be especially aware of when I am installing these? Oh yeah IM not dropping the K memeber I am just gonna lift the motor up.

did you go with the ceramic or painted headers? From what I read about flowtech use a high temp sealent on the slip fit drivers side header, it will save a lot of time trying to fix a leak. let us know how they turn out because thats what I'm saving for right now! good luck!

yeah everything is going pretty good right now EXCEPT my neighbor just came down crying because there dog just got CRUSHED by a car and she asked me if i would please go get him off the road and take care of him so I did. BUt things on the car are looking pretty good so far.

Yea, GOOD LUCK installing LTs W/O dropping the K :rlaugh: . We just put on BBK LTs the other day, we had to let the motor WAY down and then jack it WAY up just to get to some of the bolts. With the K, there is MUCH MUCH less room, and on top of that you cant let the engine down that far. Save yourself ALOT of pain and drop the K...just ask Csledd lol. They tried it W/O dropping the K...like 6 hours later they decided to drop the K lol.

thanks guys. I have read quite a few install write ups for flowtech and hooker headers and they all say that its not required to drop the K because of there design but the BBK's require it. But right now Ive stopped for the reason of i need my dad to help me with some of the stuff. I don have 4 hands or else i would continue..lol.

Have fun with that. I did it the first time without dropping the K. Amazingly got the whole thing done that way... and then had a gasket leak because I reused the stock ones. Make sure you get some good felpro gaskets and/or USE SILICONE GASKET MAKER to seal everything up and ensure there are no leaks. I had to go back and second time, remove the k member and take out the passenger header to reinstall a new gasket. I really wish I had dropped the K the first time, it woulda been much easier and not made me do it twice. I did have my car on a lift though and had 3 people working on it the first time and 2 the second time. I couldn't imagine doing it all alone. I think it took us 2 hours to get the damn bolts off between the stock EM and the Hpipe.

how much more work is it to drop the k member? I am getting tired of fighting with manifold bolts and i just have 2 left on the pass. manifold and then i still have the right side to do. Do you havet o drop the starter in order to get the header in? WHats involved in dropping the k member

i am late to mention this... but autozone sell mini 13mm wrenches with stubby ratchets and flex handles. wrench on one end and 13mm ratchet drive on other. makes it possible to get to the passenger side bolts and drvier's side without dropping "K". you just have to lift the motor all the way until it bends the a/c lines a little.

So im assuming that you could work on the starter without the headers getting in the way? Cool then looks like I need to sell my magnaflow catted x-pipe now!!!!
