Well finally got the new project car home...86 car 2.3 intercooled turbo, with original paint, never hit, 80k, complete front to back. The underside and body are just about the cleanest I've ever seen and doors and hatch are perfect and close like butta. As of right now my good friend conartist are trying to figure out just what to do with it...

Nice catch!

I'd just restore the body back to clean and stock, maybe a hood or something like that, then do the suspension up nice, 4 wheel discs and a setup that you can take autocrossing/road racing. if that 2.3 turbo swap is done well, leave that baby in there and tweak on that. my buddy has one nasty little 2.3 turbo so i know they have potential, plus its something different

yeah keep the 2.3L turbo in there... beat on ricers and show them the engine when they say "yeah but you have a V8" I wish I had a 2.3L Turbo Mustang to go with my 5.0L

I've seen several videos with 10sec 2.3turbo stangs in them...

You should make another similar video appear!

351coupe the 2.3 mod has forsaken his 351 in favor of a 2.3T and is running his best times ever. I think he just posted vids of his ten sec run the other day.

Turbo 2.3's can be made to run as fast, if not faster than a 5.0.
Keep it in there just to be different.

Wow - tons of potential right there. I agree with everyone else...keep your '88 the way it is, and start building that car up!

My 86 is that exact same color of paint fade. Mine has the 5 liter though and the ugly black cracked decal on the hood still. Nice find Derek

kewl, 2.3t's kick that ass!! keep the 2.3, some little mods, like some real charge pipe and a decent log header and turbo, and exhaust, and it will come real close to beating your 88gt.

I have a hard time with that...88 is near 320/340 so I can't see making that kind of power, but we'll do our best . She's going under the knife shortly and should emerge in the spring a whole new little monster

Nope!!! found a method to get the 88 emissions legal and only give up a little HP and $$..research is everything!!!!! I finally will be driving the car legally as of next week for the first time in yrs and it will pass the test legally yr after yr as long as they don't tighten the standard much more . The 86 is now officially a two way project. Apparently the cam in the car is more emissions freindly than I was lead to believe, combined with a custom 3way catted exhaust to accomodate the LT's and aquired all the related emissions components to GIT ER DONE. I had alot of help in getting all the info and products.
