Just curious, to see if anyone is running them. What power gains, if so? Are you running a mix(meth/water) as in windshield wiper fuild, or straight Methanol?

I have mine installed, and ready for the meth. I am planning on straight methanol. Getting on the dyno next weekend, looking forward to results.

I ran a similar system for a while. Nothing wrong with it except for my getting tired of playing with it. Here are a couple of notes worth thinking about:

If you're not specifically tuned for it, you will gain nothing and likely loose power.
If you are tuned for it then you need to run it all the time.
Look into running your own (larger) resevoir vs. the small one that come with the system.
Look into using plain ole wind shield washer fluid instead of the straight methanol for a couple f reasons:
It's way cheaper
Water absorbs heat energy than methanol

also...

An inline filter (I used a mesh fuel filter) is a good addition.
It awesome to have a multi-position tune or selectable tunes. One of meth and one without. That way you don't get caught with your pants down if for whatever reason you run out of fluid. Also... a reservoir level low light IMO is a must.

My tuner wants to run, straight meth. The water leaves residue in the blower.
I drive the car on the weekends, the price isn't too big of deal. But I do understand where you are coming from.

Inline filter, where do I get one?
Mulit tunes? As in a flip chip, type of deal? I do like this, for the reason I somehow do run out of methanol and get stuck inbetween a rock and a hard place.

Bigger resevior? Which did you use? How can this be done?

Also, the low fuel light. Where would I find one for my kit, and how can I install one?

I am very curious about all of these! Thank you, sir!

This is only a temporary setup. I am running 7psi through, a 331. Non-intercooled. This is why I am in the meth game. I would like to cool down my intake temps, as well as make a few extra ponys. Hopefully a whole different setup is only a few years down the road. This being an intercooled setup, possibly to eliminate methanol, or go to a snow performance kit with a bigger resevior.

If you mix your own water/meth using tap water or even filtered water, then you'll end up with residue. If you use distilled water, there will be none. To my knowledge, windshield washer fluid uses distilled when manufactured. I've never found evidence of residue when using it.

Inline filters, you can get from any parts store. You need not be very picky either. It needs to be one that doesn't use a paper element. All it's for, is keeping contaminents out of the nozzle that may have made it's way into the reservoir somehow.

The reservoir I used was one off of e-bay. It has a low level sensor already in it. It has slosh baffles in it and held approx 4 gallons (figure 3.5 or so with the baffles).

I know I've seen large-ish reservoirs from Snow. You just have to purchase them separately. I think their kits only offer small under-hood types.

Typically, when methanol injection is used, a safety net is built into the tuning to make sure nothing happens to the engine if the methanol fails to operate. When I had the blower on the car, I used my intake air temperature to determine how much timing was in the engine. When injecting the methanol, the intake temperatures should be low. If the methanol stops working, the intake temps will rise and my PMS would pull timing out of the engine as if the methanol was never there to begin with. I also had an LED wired to the pump, so when it was the pump was running the LED turned on. If the LED did not come on when I knew it should be on, then I knew there was a problem. Good luck.

That would makes sense! I just don't know how I feel about spraying "water" Into my motor yet. Most certainly going to look into the filter! Thank you sir!

I don't have a PMS on the car. :(

I have a mechanical gauge, so I think the led light is out of the question? Not sure, if it is possible please tell me. I would love to do this! :nice:

I won't be able to constantly check timing on the stock computer. Keeping an eye on intake temps might be a possibility. But with out electronics in place, I feel like the chance of failure is less likely to happen.

Thank you guys for all of your help! I have alot of researching to do! :nice:

i run the kit with FORD windshield wiper concentrate, you can purchase this at your ford dealer, they will order it.
at 17PSI i see about a 150 degree drop in intake temps and gained like 80-90 hp. mine is programed to run by intake temp so if im out of fluid it wont get so agressive.

for a daily driver i would not purchase this kit, you can not tell how much solution you have.
I purchased this b/c it run on boost so there is no motor to fail, but it does have its limits in your case i would probably not mess with it

How do you check your temps? Are you running the stock computer, to check?

It isn't my daily. I drive this car on the weekends. I just have to it cool supercharger intake temps as well.

sorry i run a FASt stand alone eng mang. system so i can tell by the sensor in the intake. with low boost your not going to see a world of diff.

Dang, I am jealous for sure! I would kill to have a FAST, but I don't have that kinda of money. I was more so trying to cool down the intake temps, because it isn't intercooled. I am only running 7psi, do you think it is even worth it?

Probably not. But it might be if you're intending to up the boost during your tune. :D

not worth it at all for all the headache, i ran mine at 17psi with cooling for a while and the 2 times i take it out a year now i dont put any in. on a dyno pull it used about 12oz of solution .

I would just keep your money save up for an HCI upgrade or trans etc. your not going to be happy with the system for your project

i ran 10 psi on my novi2000, no intercooler, no meth for a couple summers with no problems. The meth wont hurt but to me anything under 12 psi and its really overkill and unneccesary. You can get into block breaking power without it easily

I might have too...:D

Awesome. I feel like I have wasted money.

I have a 331 with HCI, with a Tremec. I guess I am going to take the methanol I have and wind shield wiper fluid on Saturday.

... or an air to air aftercooler. Gotta love, "Fire and Forget".
I do. I have been running around for 4 years with the supercharger. Just looking to cool it down a bit. Not really hoping for many gains on power on the meth.

Aren't you in Fort Myers? I have been running 7psi for four years. Oh well. We will see. I will probably end up trying to sell the kit now.

Thank you guys for the input.
