Anderson N/A power pipe?

I am getting ready to intsall a 76MM C&L maf on my car & was wondering if I should keep my crappy MAC cai or upgrade to a better inlet tube? I was looking into an 3 1/2" Anderson N/A powerpipe, but Im not sure if it will work with the C&L maf, or if its even worth upgrading to? Will this benefit a 300rwhp HCI car with a stock bottom end?

It only says its for 73MM max flow, & 77MM bullet Maf's, but will it work with my 76MM C&L maf?

Any info????

The C&L inlet tubes look nice, but I dont want to use a stock airbox which it looks like thats what they have shown in the pic....


What do you guys think?

i would say if youve got the cash go for it, you could also just make your own for alot cheaper with a couple of 90's and straight 3.5inch piping

You mean with plastic piping? It will work just as good, but I want something that looks clean as well...

You can buy various sizes of steel and aluminum mandrel bent tubing. Take a look at my set up, I made it entirely of 3" and 4" exhaust components.

Old thread I know, but question for Brian, why is it that the AFM-105C is not listed to work with the Pro-M 75mm bullet MAF?

I wouldn't buy anything based on using that meter.
If you want to keep using it, that's fine.
But investing in something to match an inferior product just isn't worth the time or money IMO.

Yes.
While i like power pipes, they aren't cheap.
So investing in one should be for the last meter you are ever going to buy, and i assure you, if you want the best running and performing car, that's not a C&L.
You can go as big as you like with mass air meters, so me personally i'd be getting a 95mm PMAS meter. Then get a power pipe to go with it.

I bet with the sale of the C&L, the OP would spend less money on the new meter than he would on the power pipe and get more power.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but if I was to get the 3.5" AFM powerpipe, what would the ideal MAF and TB be??

If rest of combo matters, I have a 347, GT40X aluminums, 1.7 rockers, cobra intake, street toy, not daily driver. Currently have 75 mm tb and 75mm maf with a bbk cold air kit that i'd like to replace as its getting rusty!

power pipe is worth the money in my opinion.. there was just this same question asked over on corral.net and some people posted up there power difference they seen on the dyno with and without there power pipes as well.

It's been our experience that when the 75 Bullet-style meter is placed out in the inner fenderwell, so far away from the throttle body, low speed drive-ability suffers quite a bit. The air pulse from the throttle body just isn't very strong. This is why our Power Pipe® that's made for the meter you speak of actually moves the mass air meter a little bit closer to the throttle body than even the stock location.

Brian is 100% correct I did some testing years back when I was running a N/A set-up (I actually still think I am up on AFM's customer section). I tried the C&L with a Powerpipe in the fender and it would never work, barely ran. The pipe he lists will work with the C&L since it is positioned close to the TB.

I actually found the best results with the 76mm C&L was a stock airbox and paper filter. Did my testing at the track and it yielded me the best results with similar conditions and temps. At the same time I swapped on a AFM 4" NA Power Pipe and a 80mm Pro-M and picked up over .4 ET, and a few mph...obviously the PP and better reading meter was needed. Never looked back after that and was a true Powerpipe believer.

If your wondering if that pipe and meter combo are too large, my car made 340RWHP at the time and ran high 11's.

Since the 80MM is older technolgy I'd go 4" AFM pipe with a 95mm PMAS meter, or I know Pro-M re-opened and they may still carry the 80mm units.

I ran a 75mm Pro-M bullet with a power pipe on my 331 without issue and then to my now 80mm Pro-M shorty, still works great

I had one on my 331 N/A combo i just liked it because it is very well built and looked great, when I sold it used on ebay i got almost all my money back as well
