I went to a shop that someone had recommended this morning and asked when I could drop off my car. The tech there said that it could be done by the end of the day.:nice: I told him that I had to put them on because the parts have been in store for about 3 months already.

Just picked it up about half an hour ago. The car feels incredible, I can't believe I have waited to long to put these on. The factory gears were the 331's. I can't wait to run at the track.

I also had them install the BlowByRacing Radiator Support and removed the front sway bar. I guess the car lifts a bit more. Maybe its just in my head. Anyways, the radiator support is a great piece to put on our cars. I got mine for about $95 from bbr.

Do I have to get the car retuned to adjust the shift points? I already set the SCT to fix the speedo.

Thanks for all the info that you guys have been giving to me and others. :flag:

Congrats on the new goodies! Your SCT speedo change would also fix the rpm & speed for upshifts and downshifts, so you should be good to go now. You may want to bump up the line pressure for firmer shifts and raise the shift points (if you haven't already) to somewhere around 6500 rpm's as there's still power to be had up to that point, especially as you add mods to the car.

.. isn't Motive the only one who makes 3.90s? If that's the case, scrap that idea.

Generally cause the most whining regardless of installation a lot of times

I've put 5 sets of Motive gears in 3 of my cars and none of them whined. They make them for FRPP and have never heard of anyone having problems with them.
Is this a new problem allot of people are having,or just a few isolated cases?

Motive used to make gears for FRPP. A lot of people had issues with the re-labelled Motive gears and started giving FRPP a bad name. FRPP pulled the plug in order to save their name, rightfully so. I've had two sets of Motive gears that whined horribly in a 9.75" before the installer went with something else. There are plenty of people with this issue. Don't get me wrong though, there are plenty of people who have zero issues with Motives.

We need a thread where someone put these gears in the 5-speed manual trans car....and then get some feedback. Who are all these people driving automatics? LOL...

Aren't you funny! If it makes you feel better, I put FRPP 4.30 gears in my 2003 Mach 1 with manual transmission. Didn't run the 1/4 mile any quicker than with the factory 3.55's, though (13.0's at 105+ mph).

For the 2005+ GT's, though, the automatic is finally a 5-speed unit so the gear spacing is just about the same as the 5-speed manual. For those of us in congested city driving and/or looking for consistency at the dragstrip for bracket racing, the 5-speed automatic is tough to beat. Last day at our local track I ran a best of 12.338 and a worst of 12.345 in the 1/4 mile. There is virtually no way to run that tightly with a manual transmission even though it may be more fun trying.

Don't get me wrong, I love a manual transmission. 5 of my 6 Mustangs were manuals. The new automatics are just so much better than old automatics that they are a legitimate performance option now.
