good evening gentelmen!!

i've got a 331, edel pef. rpm heads and intake, f cam, currently making around 375 fwhp. i've got a goal of 425 fwhp. i'm waiting on a email back from ed, but do you guys think i could get there with a custom cam from ed, and porting, polishing the **** out of my heads, and the same with the intake? Or would i be better off investing in better heads? i'd like to keep my heads and intake now, so if it's possible,, that would be great!!

Yeah, how did you come up with the flywheel numbers? Have you had the car chassis dynoed? If you wanna play the 15% drivetrain loss game, i'm making right around 416flhp, but that's all guestimates and shots in the dark.

i had the car dyno tuned about 3 years ago with all the current parts on it, and i made 330 rwhp, so i was figuring about 375 fwhp. i'm just wondering if i can get this combo to make 375 or so to the wheels with the current heads and intake

So you're talking about an actual gain of 45rwhp...with a custom cam and porting your heads and intake. I think it really depends on how the F303 was holding you back as opposed to how well Ed's cam will suit your combo. I also think the whole thing depends on how well the heads and intake are ported, and you should get them done BEFORE you contact Ed about a cam and get the heads flow bench tested so you have some cfm numbers to give him since that will help him tailor the cam to your combo.

cool, that's what i was looking for. i'm just wondering, how much having my heads and intake ported is going to cost. is it going to get to a figure where it is still worth it, or should i get a set of afr's and call it a day? just looking for info here, don't have a ton of money to spend, but i'd like to have enough power to run low 12's n/a.

I've honestly heard of port work in the 3k range...but we're talking serious race heads. Beyond that i honesty don't know...i bought my heads already ported. I know it's one of those things were good ain't cheap and cheap aint good, know what i mean?

i'd like to have enough power to run low 12's n/a.

If you are making 330rwhp (and by default maybe ~340rwtq) you should be in the 11s.

Sounds like either you can stop now or shoot for low 11s.

I wouldn't bother to port the RPM heads. A good port job is usually $700-$1,000 and you figure you would be out that money AND what you could sell the RPMs for. So for ~$1,800 imagine what type of heads you could buy.

Yeah I cut a 12.5 with X303 cam, 1.72 rr, 650 carb, vic jr intake and performer rpm heads.

I spun out real bad on drag radials and still made 12.5@110. So yeah if you cant hit 12's with what you have now, work on your suspension and driving technique to find whats suited to your taste.

I ran a 12.2 at 113 with my 331 after some poor launching . I'm running a Performer II intake, performer heads and a comp cams NX264HR. With better driving, shifting, my msd 2 step I know I could have been high 11's. NOw I have a Paxton so I'm hopin for mid 11's

so yes you should be able to achieve that
